About OM Defence Systems

OM Defence Systems develops advanced drone and autonomy technologies for defence and security applications. Our mission is to build reliable, intelligent unmanned systems that integrate flight control, real-time communication, and AI-powered decision-making.

We are looking to expand our engineering team and looking for a Technical Writer to create high-quality documentation for complex hardware and software products.

Location: Hybrid, Kyiv, Ukraine. Remote across the EU possible

Employment type: Full-time / Contract

Key Responsibilities

You will focus on building and maintaining high-quality technical documentation across multiple product areas.

• Create clear and structured documentation for mechanical, electrical, and software-based products.
• Develop user-facing materials including manuals, guides, and safety instructions.
• Prepare technical documentation for developers such as API, SDK, and release notes.
• Work closely with engineers and product teams to gather and validate information.
• Create compliance documentation aligned with industry standards.Maintain documentation structure, versioning, and consistency.
• Ensure all documentation meets technical and usability requirements.

Requirements

You should be comfortable working with technical systems and large volumes of information.

Education

Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.

Experience

• 3+ years in a Technical Writer, Engineer, or similar role.
• Experience with hardware and software integrated systems or R&D environments.
• Understanding of production workflows is a plus.

Skills

• Strong technical English.
• Ability to simplify complex concepts into clear documentation.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work closely with technical teams.

Analytical & Organisational

• Ability to structure information clearly.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple documentation streams.

Tools

• Experience with tools such as Markdown, Confluence, Notion, DITA, or Git.
• Basic understanding of software or firmware principles.
• Familiarity with CAD, electrical diagrams, or production documentation is a plus.
